In the states there are quite a few programs that collect books and distribute them to prisoners - there might be a similar thing in the UK?Special Khttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08229302072441415979noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-29353078.post-68138731851475716602007-08-18T11:29:00.000+01:002007-08-18T11:29:00.000+01:00Green Metropolis sounds great. Its the greatest fun when you leave a book somewhere and it travels (My favourite is when I left a copy of Behind the scenes at the Museum at the Museum in Edinburgh and it travelled to Australia!!)Crafty Green Poethttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02486633917197181851noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-29353078.post-40763011195000261882007-07-10T14:55:00.000+01:002007-07-10T14:55:00.000+01:00Thanks for all the great ideas! Thanks for all the great ideas!Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03404979394696184273noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-29353078.post-17856008339243057032007-07-09T19:30:00.000+01:002007-07-09T19:30:00.000+01:00You should definitely join Bookcrossing!it's a lot...You should definitely join Bookcrossing!it's a lot of fun.valentinahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01568749601493955929noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-29353078.post-49855221147780261572007-05-25T19:57:00.000+01:002007-05-25T19:57:00.000+01:00A good site that I'm a big fan of in the UK is www...A good site that I'm a big fan of in the UK is www.readitswapit.co.uk - this way, whenever you send a book, you get a book back! Swaps don't always work out, as you both have to agree that you want one of the other people's books, but I've got rid of loads of books this way (and gained quite a few more TBR)...Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-29353078.post-15051895054994563802007-05-06T18:47:00.000+01:002007-05-06T18:47:00.000+01:00thanks for the link to Green Metropolis - will giv...thanks for the link to Green Metropolis - will give it a go :)Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07055307658582439926noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-29353078.post-19762982078079273192007-05-04T05:37:00.000+01:002007-05-04T05:37:00.000+01:00I'm a diehard BookCrosser, so I definitely think y...I'm a diehard BookCrosser, so I definitely think you should join! You can always set up unofficial trades there too, a lot of people are open to trades and link to their wishlist, which you can match up to what you have. You can also gift someone with a book (this is termed a RABCK - Random Act of BookCrossing Kindness) if you're so inclined.

I've not used any of the booktrading sites, but LibraryThing has a listing of several - I'm not sure which ones are available in the UK:

http://www.librarything.com/work-swap/8110Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-29353078.post-78099023994320753972007-04-26T11:12:00.000+01:002007-04-26T11:12:00.000+01:00Hi, Dawn!I've used both, Bookcrossing and Bookmooc...Hi, Dawn!

I've used both, Bookcrossing and Bookmooch and they are terrific for trading books and making new friends...like you, I'd recommend both very highly!

PBS or Paperbackswap is also very popular in the US. Unfortunately, we don't have it in Canada yet and I feel pretty certain they don't have it in the UK either, but I would say it's only a matter of time before they include our two countries as well!Lotus Readshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02081192215823615529noreply@blogger.com
